Title
Resolution adopting the Allegheny County Hazard Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation plan as the official hazard mitigation plan of the City of Pittsburgh

WHEREAS, an Allegheny County Hazard Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation Plan has been developed by the Allegheny County Hazard Mitigation Project Steering Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Hazard Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation Plan recommends mitigation activities that will reduce losses to life and property affected by the natural hazards that face the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, a series of public meetings was held to develop and review the plan.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Allegheny County Hazard Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation Plan is hereby adopted as an official plan of the City of Pittsburgh so long as the plan (1) does not bind the City of Pittsburgh to undertake or pay for work it does not intend to undertake, and (2) continues to allow for or obtain funding to assist in the mitigation of hazards within its boundaries.
Section 2. By September 30th each year, the Allegheny County Hazard Mitigation Project Steering Committee shall prepare an annual evaluation report to the City Council
of the City of Pittsburgh.
Section 3. The City of Pittsburgh is currently drafting their own Hazard Vulnerability
Assessment and Mitigation Plan to which they will adopt upon completion. Upon the completion of the City of Pittsburgh plan the Allegheny County Plan will be noted as a complimentary appendix to the City plan. The City of Pittsburgh Hazard Vulnerablity Assessment and Mitigation Plan will be completed no later than July 1, 2008.
