• Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates and commends Carol Jansen on her years of dedicated service and her accomplishments as a wife, a mother, and a Pittsburgher; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proclaims that Saturday, November 7th, 2009 be hereby declared as “Carol Jansen Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Carol Jansen, known as the "favorite cleaning lady," retired on October 30^th, 2009 from ABM Janitorial in the Frick Building after 37 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Carol was born on November 5^th, 1944 to the late Joseph and Margaret Lang; and  

WHEREAS, Carol, a lifelong resident of the City of Pittsburgh, attended South High and met her future husband Jim at the age of 13.  They will be celebrating 48 years of marriage in June of 2010; and

WHEREAS, Carol is the proud mother of 3 children (Kelly, Jimmy, and Joe) and grandmother of 3 grandchildren (Jamie, Nick, and Taylor); and

WHEREAS, Carol currently serves as a Democratic Committee woman for the 19^th Ward in the City of Pittsburgh - representing Mt. Washington.  She handles constituent problems for her district as well as working the polls on election day; and

WHEREAS, Carol is an avid B-I-N-G-O player as well as a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fanatic.  In her retirement she plans on relaxing and riding the bike trails with her husband; and
