Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh salutes the Ten Year Anniversary of the Carnegie Science Center Awards, commends the Carnegie Science Center for continuing to raise the profile of science in our everyday lives, and thanks the Carnegie Science Center Awardees for excellence in innovation.

WHEREAS, for the past ten years, the Carnegie Science Center has annually celebrated the most outstanding recent achievements in science and technology in Southwestern Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the Carnegie Science Center Awards for Excellence raise public awareness of the place of science in our daily lives as well as underscore the interrelationship of schools and universities, research laboratories, business development and job creation in our region; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 Carnegie Science Center Award for Excellence Honorees are:

McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Chairman's Award; and
John J. Craig and F. Gary Kovac, Supply Systems, Inc., Advanced Manufacturing & Materials; and
Red Whittaker, Ph.D., Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, Catalyst; and
Vocollect, Corporate Innovation; and
Scott Sundgren, South Fayette Township School District, Elementary Educator; and
Lawrence Rhoades, The Ex One Company, Entrepreneur; and
