WHEREAS, Women in Data Science (WiDS) Pittsburgh is back at Carnegie Mellon University for its seventh annual conference to be held Thursday through Friday, March 13-14; and,

WHEREAS, the conference takes place against the backdrop of Pittsburgh, a vibrant hub for a community of experts in statistics, data analysis, and machine learning who are dedicated to pioneering new methodologies and techniques, spearheading cutting-edge data science research; and,
WHEREAS, WiDS Pittsburgh is the only women-centric data analytics conference in Western Pennsylvania. The conference is open to the public and is free to high school students, providing them an opportunity to see the possibilities in this field; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of WiDS is “to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and support women in the field”; the conference features exclusively women speakers from academia and industry; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Women in Data Science for providing inspiration, education, community, and for being the catalyst to unite the region's data science community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, March 13-14, 2025 to be “Women in Data Science Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.
