WHEREAS, the 12th annual Get Involved! Pittsburgh Service Summit, held on Thursday, November 11, at the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, brought together hundreds of students, young professionals and community leaders to learn from keynote speakers about best practices and strategies to make a larger difference in the region; and,

WHEREAS, founded by Allegheny County Councilman Tom Baker, Get Involved! Inc. provides leadership and development programs and initiatives that engage, energize, educate, and empower students, young professionals, and lifelong learners to make a positive difference in their communities and to become civically engage; and,
WHEREAS, awards are given annually to local young professionals, ages 21-35, in the non-profit, business, and governmental sectors who dedicate their time and talent to community organizations and who are making a positive difference in the region; and,
WHEREAS, awards have been given to the following individuals:
Phyllis Comer, Get Involved! Woman of the Year
Charlie Batch, Get Involved! Man of the Year
Patriece Thompson, Dr. Tom Baker Community Leader Award
Raelyn Day, "The Patty Award" - Patty Verosko Award for Child Advocacy
Ashley Priore, Get Involved! Female Emerging Leader
Marcus Shoffner, Get Involved! Male Emerging Leader, and
Western PA Rising Star Awards went to: Ciarra Karnes, Tom Duerr, Carolyn Keller, Idelia Robinson-Confer, Anthony Taylor, Annie Cairns, Kelly King, Carolyn Krall, Erica Cochran, Chardae Jones, Alexandra Lackos-Schoming, Jared Latchaw, Jessica Monahan, and Catara Moore; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Get Involved! Inc. for encouraging people to become more active and engaged in their communities and for organizing the annual Pittsburgh Service Summit, impacting the lives of thousands of individuals; and,
