Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Pittsburgh commends and thanks Green Light Pittsburgh for their continued commitment to educating the lighting and electrical community regarding the latest sustainable design practices, and wishes the organization the best of luck at their conference today. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, March 29, 2005 "Green Light Pittsburgh Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Green Light Pittsburgh is a coalition of leaders in the electrical and lighting industry dedicated to ensuring a sustainable world by promoting environmentally sound design practices in the electrical design industry; and
 
WHEREAS, the coalition is a joint effort between the Electric League of Western Pennsylvania and Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Western Pennsylvania chapter, in order to teach better sustainable design practices to lighting and electrical professionals; and
 
WHEREAS, Green Light Pittsburgh is holding a Sustainable Design Conference and Exhibition today from noon to 8 p.m. at the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center; the event will showcase workshops and exhibitions about sustainable design in the lighting and electrical industry, as well as celebrate Pittsburgh's role in the green building movement with buildings such as the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and the Heinz History Center; and
 
WHEREAS, the conference will feature speakers such as Rebecca Flora of the Green Building Alliance, Vivian Loftness of Carnegie Mellon University, and international renowned lighting designer Jim Benya; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh is proud to host a conference that recognizes the importance and benefits of sustainable development and green building practices.
