WHEREAS, September 21, 2024 is the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club (PRFC), and in recognition of the players and supporters who have laid the groundwork for rugby in the City of Pittsburgh, we proudly acknowledge the following accomplishments; and,

WHEREAS, PRFC won the Midwest Championship in 1987, ultimately finishing 2nd in the Country; and,
WHEREAS, PRFC has worked tirelessly to introduce & develop Youth Rugby in High Schools throughout Western Pennsylvania and has fielded many select-side players over the years, including Ohio and Midwest unions, Under-21s, 7-a-side, Thunderbird's and the U.S. National team; and,
WHEREAS, PRFC built a winning tradition for the city to be proud of, including; decades of winning a majority of games played and tournaments entered; and,
WHEREAS, PRFC established a clubhouse in the South Side, ' Rugger's Pub', that is a popular destination since early 2000’s then finally merging with another club forming the Pittsburgh Forge; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does herby commend The Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club on celebrating its 60th Anniversary,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 21, 2024 to be “Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
