WHEREAS, the Jasmine Nyree Campus located at 3011 Landis Street in Sheraden is celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony and meet and greet on Monday, June 1, 2020; and,

WHEREAS, in December 2019, Christy and former Pittsburgh Steeler Joey Porter acquired the former Holy Innocent’s Parish property, and are transforming over 100,000 square feet of space into a multi-service campus and community center; and,
WHEREAS, the campus, which is named after one of the Porter’s four children, is comprised of four buildings: the Learning Center for Special Needs Adults, the Learning Center for Children, a Community Center and the Patricia Jean Administration Building, which is named in honor of Mrs. Porter’s mother, who passed away in 2015; and,
WHEREAS, the Learning Center for Special Needs Adults will provide the assistance and therapeutic programming for disabled adults, the Learning Center for Children will provide 3 hot meals a day, an afterschool program and a summer program for children; and,
WHEREAS, the Community Center will host a variety of essential and beneficial services such as a preschool, GED Resources, Employment Center, Mental Health clinic, Drug and Alcohol prevention clinic, cafeteria, a bakery and coffee shop; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to these facilities, the campus will house a 40-apartment unit to benefit low income seniors, disabled veterans, and special needs adults; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the Jasmine Nyree Campus into Sheraden and thank Mr. and Mrs. Porter for providing such beneficial services to the City of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Monday, June 1, 2020 to be “Jasmine Nyree Campus Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
