Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Traffic Division of the Department of Public Works for their efforts and dedicated service to the communities they serve.

WHEREAS, The Traffic Division of the Department of Public Works has worked diligently to meet the needs of the City of Pittsburgh within their area of responsibility; and
 
WHEREAS, Patty Chavez, Tim Donaldson, Melanie Hall, Steve Simmons, Glenn Hane, Marsha Parks, Rick Buczynski, Shaun Weber, Larry Balestrieri, Dave Catterall, Shirley Clinton, Gill Costello, Jimmy Coyle, Carl Huntley, Lonnie Kennell, Tom Marsak, Ricky Nee, Bob Sherer, George Tkach, Kedrin Turner, Howie Albright, Jerry Lawson, Mike Maley, Jeff McCafferty, Del McElhaney, Mike Moffat, Steve Taylor, and Mike Washington have collectively and professionally taken care of any request for service we have made for our constituents; and
 
WHEREAS, personnel in the traffic division has been cut from forty eight employees to twenty eight, a decrease of over forty percent, and yet their production of work has increased due to the needs of the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, the Graffiti Program used to have 2 truck drivers and 4 laborers who were specifically assigned to help fight this problem, and they now have only one truck driver and one laborer who is pulled from other responsibilities to try to remove this blight; and
 
WHEREAS, they have 20 percent fewer electricians to install and maintain more traffic lights than in previous years, 7 days a week, on all shifts, and still they are providing this vital service wherever needed for the safety of the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS the sign painters, laborers and maintenance specialists have performed their duties to a higher degree due to the cuts resulting from the budget problems within the City of Pittsburgh, and still the quality and level of service has stayed consistent
