• Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks the Squirrel Hill Kosher SuperPantry for all the great work it accomplishes, and recognizes the Hungry 4 Bingo event for its contribution to the community; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares December 10, 2006, "Hungry 4 Bingo Day", in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Kosher SuperPantry has been serving those in need since 1998; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the SuperPantry is to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry and that those in need have a place to find support; and

WHEREAS, today there are more than 500 men, women and children who depend on the pantry for supplemental food and support services each month; and

WHEREAS, the SuperPantry is the only kosher food pantry in Southwestern Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the pantry also helps participants reach a goal of self-sufficiency by assisting with issues concerning unemployment, financial difficulties, depression and other inhibiting factors; and

WHEREAS, this year, on December 10^th from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the event, Hungry 4 Bingo, will be hosted at the Squirrel Hill Jewish Community Center in order to raise funds for the pantry.
