Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to sincerely commend the Schenley Girls' Soccer Team for the exemplary skills and admirable sportsmanship that they have displayed throughout the course of this past season; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in light of these tremendous attributes displayed by the Schenley Girl's Soccer Team, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 18, 2008 “Schenley Girls' Soccer Team Day” in the City of Pittsburgh, and further recognizes their devotion by awarding them with a key to the city.

WHEREAS on October 29, 2008, the Schenley High School Girls' Soccer Team defeated Allerdice in a 5-0 victory to win the city championship; and
 
WHEREAS this exceptional group of young women came together as a team to finish the season with a record of 16 wins, 3 losses, and one tie.  Scoring a total of 84 goals and only allowing 9 goals, the team went undefeated in the city with 12 victories, and won a second consecutive championship; and
 
WHEREAS led by Coach Kevin Shevitz, the team consists of 6 senior captains: Gillian Kacsuta, Meagan Eiszler, Samantha Brunsvold, Cary Meyers, Cecile Claussen, and Taylor Lane, a strong junior class that consists of Brittany Hubbard, Zena Lapp, Erin Miller, Seana Brown, and Monique Sims, sophomores Sami Gregory, Natalie Sorce, and Anmary Vaccerallo, and freshmen Angela Perfetti, Mariah Benjamin, and Leeze Maria Tokarski; and
 
WHEREAS throughout the season and during the many years since, numerous family members and friends have helped to sustain the team with their on-going gifts of encouragement and love.
