WHEREAS, Mr. Roger Babusci Jr., a dedicated Pittsburgh Public School teacher is celebrating his 35th and final annual Spring Musical in 2006; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Babusci, who graduated from Duquesne University, where he received his undergraduate degree in English Literature and Political Science and his Masters in English Literature, dedicated a lifetime to teaching at public schools, first teaching English and theater at Knoxville Middle School for three years and then teaching at Schenley High School for 35 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Babusci was recognized for this commitment in 1983 when he was named Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Babusci has served as more than a teacher, also taking on the role of tennis coach, activities director, yearbook advisor, editor of classroom anthologies, and director of the spring musicals; and
WHEREAS, under Mr. Babusci's direction. Schenley has been nominated for 72, and won 34, Gene Kelly Awards for excellence in high school musical theater.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates and commends Mr. Babusci for his years of dedication to his students and his commitment to education; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Friday, May 5, 2006, "Roger Babusci Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
