Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of City Planning to enter into an Agreement between the City of Pittsburgh and HackPGH for the creation and installation of public art Tustin Park at 2028-2032 Tustin Street, at a cost not to exceed Twenty-Four Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($24,500.00).

WHEREAS, a planning process with residents and stakeholders in the Uptown and West Oakland communities resulted in the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission voting on September 12, 2017 to adopt the Uptown / West Oakland EcoInnovation District Plan as part of the City of Pittsburgh's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the adopted Uptown / West Oakland EcoInnovation District Plan recommends that the City of Pittsburgh use public funds to commission and install public art in the plan area; and
WHEREAS, the Department of City Planning includes a Public Art + Civic Design division, that seeks to introduce new and innovative public art programs around the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh's Public Art Plan provides a vision for how public art will be created, maintained, and displayed in the City of Pittsburgh for the next decade and calls for the integration of art into the "built environment" as an element of urban and building design as a means of reinforcing public gathering places, infrastructure, neighborhoods, and communities; and
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2018, the Office of Management and Budget released a Request for Proposals to solicit artists and artist collectives to create public art for the City of Pittsburgh's Tustin Park in the Uptown area; and
WHEREAS, a selection committee chose a proposal by the HackPGH collective for the public art installation.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
