WHEREAS, Radiant Life Alliance Church was saddened by the tragedy of the double homicide of Mr. Trowery and Mr. Freeman who was shot and killed in their SUV in the neighborhood of Garfield ; and,
WHEREAS, In light of the circumstances The Radiant Life Alliance Church decided they needed to move quickly to address the horrific violent act. It was a prime opportunity for the church to move outside of its walls and minister to the families and the community of Garfield; and,
WHEREAS, On March 29, 2014 The Radiant Life Alliance Church held a prayer vigil and prayer walk over the entire neighborhood of Garfield; The church partnered with various other churches and organizations, such as the Adrienne Young of Tree of Hope and Justice for US TOO, Pastor Melvin Braziel of Solid Rock Church to name a few; Members of Radiant Life Alliance created T-shirts with the churches logo on them to represent the church during the rally; During the march, participants were able to reach out to members of the community for prayer and engage in conversation relating to stopping the violence; and,
WHEREAS, As a result of the march, community members attended services at Radiant Life and Radiant Life was able to save souls in light of their work ; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and honor Radiant Life Alliance Church for their immediate response in addressing violence in the community; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, April 20, 2014, to be " Radiant Life of Alliance Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
