WHEREAS, Mark C. Johnson is a dedicated public servant who has spent nearly 30 years supporting youth and families across Allegheny County. As a school-based Probation Officer with the Court of Common Pleas, Family Division, he has guided more than 2,000 students in four school districts, including service at Pittsburgh King & Arsenal K-8. His work centers on helping students make positive decisions, remain engaged in academics & successfully exit the probation system with stronger skills and renewed confidence and,
WHEREAS, A proud graduate of Westinghouse High School, Mark was a scholar-athlete and all-city football player. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Edinboro University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Chatham University.
WHEREAS, Mark serves as CEO and co-founder of MAWATU, LLC, an organization that strengthens youth through career awareness, leadership development and social-emotional learning. Mark’s leadership extends deeply into community and fraternal service. As past President of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, he strengthened the chapter by expanding membership & increased partnership across Divine Nine organizations. Mr. Johnson’s service has earned significant honors, including New Pittsburgh Courier Man of Excellence (2022), Alpha Omicron Lambda Brother of the Year (2017), and Alpha Man of the Year for outstanding service and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 16, 2025, to be “Mark C. Johnson Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
