• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the players, coaches and families of the 14th Ward Youth Baseball Association on this exciting and important trip to Cuba to represent Pittsburgh and promote sportsmanship and the love of baseball; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 19-23, 2018, to be "14th WARD YOUTH BASEBALL ASSOCIATION DAYS" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the 14^th Ward Youth Baseball Association (YBA) is a parent led, volunteer organization that has been a vital part of the Pittsburgh community for decades, working to promote the love of the game to boys and girls across the City of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, in an unprecedented opportunity, the 14^th Ward Youth Baseball Association players, their families and coaches have been invited by Cuba’s Ministry of Sport to travel to Cuba on December 19 -23, 2018 for a unique cross- cultural baseball exchange.  Through the connection with Pittsburgh’s Sister City, Matanzas, the 14^th Ward YBA players will spend four days of camaraderie and baseball with a local Cuban little league; and,

WHEREAS, the 14^th Ward YBA, made up of 10 -12 year olds and coaches, will visit Havana as well as Matanzas and will play in at least 3 baseball games and participate in cultural and social activities. Representing Pittsburgh and the 14^th Ward Youth Baseball Association will be Cole Cohen, Julien Cohen, Benjamin Kogen, Elliot Morris, Lucas Picher, Zach Shook, Maya Shook and Coach Jeff Shook; and,
