WHEREAS, in the words of Teddy Roosevelt, "far and away the best prize in life that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." Adrianne Davis Kelly's life has been filled with work worth doing and done enthusiastically; and,
WHEREAS, born in Jackson, Mississippi, and educated at Jackson State University and Duquesne University, Adrianne Davis Kelly has been the Music Teacher and Chorus Director at Minadeo School in the Pittsburgh School District for 30 years, having set extremely high expectations for all of her students, and teaching them how to meet and exceed lofty goals. Beloved by students, parents and faculty, Adrianne Davis Kelly taught General Music K-5, Chorus and Instrumental Music. She has served on curriculum and textbook selection committees and has been involved with the All-City Elementary Honors Chorus for over 21 years and is also the Co-Director of the PPS All-City Middle School Honors Chorus; and,
WHEREAS, under her direction, the Pittsburgh Minadeo Elementary Chorus, consisting of 4th and 5th grade students, performs a holiday and spring program each year and actively performs at nursing homes, Pittsburgh International Airport, PPG Wintergarden, US Steel Building and Plaza, Hard Rock Caf? and recently performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall and as a fundraiser for Troy Polamalu's Foundation. Adrianne selects challenging music with choreography and props, all to be memorized by the students; and,
WHEREAS, on the state level, Adrianne is certified in Levels 1 & 2 in Orff-Schulwerk, is an Executive Board Member and National Chair-Elect of the nationally known Urban Music Leadership Conference, an organization intensely focused on the needs of urban school district music programs; and,
WHEREAS, married to Derek and mother of two children, Loren and Alexis, Adrianne is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and is an avid reader, Steeler fan and bird lover.
