Title: WHEREAS, Stephen Laszlo Takacs was born on June 20, 1917, in the city of Pittsburgh and was one of 10 children; and, WHEREAS, Stephen Takacs graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1936 and married Anna Elizabeth Mueller from the Oakland section of Pittsburgh on July 18, 1942, at St. Ann's Hungarian Church in Hazelwood; and, WHEREAS, Stephen Takacs has had a strong work ethic and had worked at Pittsburgh Smelting Company, Hall Electric, Young Electric, but most important, was a loyal employee of Jones and Laughlin Hot Strip Mill in Hazelwood for 45 years as a Steelworker, having retired in 1981; and WHEREAS, Stephen Takacs is an avid gardener, sharing his bounty with neighbors, family and friends and enjoys music and family laughter, often singing or whistling while working; and, WHEREAS, Stephen Takacs is a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose children, Jean Marie Takacs Guthrie and James Arthur Takacs, and granddaughters, An...

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize that Stephen and his wife, Anna Betty, who met at the South Park Swimming Pool in 1937 , will celebrate 65 years of marriage on July 18, 2007,
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor and recognize Stephen Takacs on the occasion of his 90th birthday; and,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 20, 2007, to be STEPHEN TAKACS DAY in the City of Pittsburgh.
