Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does commend and congratulate Comcast and its partner the National Urban League and the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, on its seventh annual Comcast Cares Day, and commends Comcast for its concentrated efforts to help with the improvement of our communities.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, Comcast, in partnership with the National Urban League and the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, celebrated its seventh annual Comcast Cares Day; and
 
WHEREAS, Comcast volunteers landscaped and distributed flyers on tree donations throughout Lawrenceville; collected litter and landscaped in Oakland; prepared and served a meal to seniors at the Pressley Street High Rise on the North Side; landscaped and planted flowers outside the Liberty Tunnel, outside the Fort Pitt Tunnel, and along McArdle Roadway and Grandview Avenue; beautified the inside and outside of Northview Heights Family Support Center; and painted pillowcases for Ronald McDonald House at Comcast's Corliss facility; and
 
WHEREAS, during the sixth annual Comcast Cares Day in the Three Rivers Region, hundreds of Comcast employees and family members volunteered their time in various communities, making improvements at the Urban League Charter School in East Liberty and the Robert L. Vann Elementary School to make them safe and pleasant for our students, among other projects; and
 
WHEREAS, this year more than 1,600 Comcast volunteers will be contributing to local communities throughout the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and
 
WHEREAS, Comcast is committed to improving the quality of life in local communities where its customers and employees live and work; and
 
WHEREAS, Comcast works with existing local organizations to positively impact each community it serves while using its resources to bring visibility to important local issues;
