WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame was established to honor and recognize Western Pennsylvania's outstanding Italian American athletes and notable members of the Italian American community who have distinguished themselves through their significant contributions both on and off the playing field; and
WHEREAS, all proceeds from banquets, advertising books and all other fundraisers sponsored by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame are used to fund the scholarship program for past, present and future recipients; and
WHEREAS, on Sunday, April 2, 2006, the following individuals will be honored by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and will be recognized for their contribution to sports and for their leadership in the community:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby convey its best wishes to the new inductees, the special honorees and the leadership of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and declares Sunday, April 2, 2006, to be "Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
