WHEREAS, on February 23, 2011, the Marilyn G. Rabb Foundation will receive The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime's 2011 Community Initiative Peace Partner Award for Youth Serving Organization; and
WHEREAS, the Marilyn G. Rabb Foundation is a 501(c)3 dedicated to overcoming social and educational barriers and creating innovative programs that positively impact our communities; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation has enriched the lives of thousands of Pittsburgh youth through their Murals Project, Somali refugee resettlement initiative, programs for incarcerated youths at Shuman Detention Center, and Youth Peace Rallies; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation honors the giving nature and warm spirit of Marilyn G. Rabb by lifting up the youth of Pittsburgh through innovative education, wellness, and artistic opportunities in the hopes of bringing about lasting social change.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the efforts of the Marilyn G. Rabb Foundation and congratulate the Foundation, its staff and Board of Directors on receiving the 2011 Peace Partner Award for Youth Serving Organization; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 23, 2011 "Marilyn G. Rabb Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
