WHEREAS, The Beechview Merchants Association (the “Applicant”) maintains its principal place of business and conducts its principal activities in the City of Pittsburgh, and
WHEREAS, the Applicant desires to operate certain small games of chance and/or conduct raffles to generate funds to finance its operations and further its purposes, and
WHEREAS, under the Local Options Small Games of Chance Act, as amended (the “Act”), the Applicant must procure a license from the Treasurer of the County of Allegheny before doing so and,
WHEREAS, the Act provides that any non-profit organization, not affiliated with a national or state association, must procure a Resolution from the governing body of the municipality in which the association conducts its principal activities, affirming its status as a civic and/or service association within the comprehension of the Act and
WHEREAS, the Solicitor of the City has requested, received, and reviewed appropriate documentation from the Applicant and
WHEREAS, said documentation has verified the existence of the Applicant as a non-profit corporation authorized by its Articles of Incorporation and/or By-Laws to engage in civic and or service purposes within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and
WHEREAS, the Solicitor of the City has advised the Board of Commissioners thereof that the Applicant is an organization which may be recognized by a Resolution of said Board of Commissioners as a civic and/or service association as contemplated by the Act.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby resolves by and with the authority of the same as follows:
· FIRST: The recitations set forth herein are incorporated by reference thereto.
· SECOND: The City Council of said City recognizes the Applicant as a non-profit corporation which is authorized by its written Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws to engage in a civic or service purpose within the Commonwealth and ...
