Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and thank all of the organizers and participants for making Pittsburgh nationally known as having one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the country; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, March 8-14, 2026 to be "St. Patrick's Day Parade Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade, proudly presented by the Irish Society for Education and Charity, Inc. is scheduled for this Saturday, March 14, 2026;

WHEREAS, this year's parade is led by Grand Marshal Patrick J. Byrne. Patrick remains a lifelong member of the Knights of Equity Court 9 (4th Degree). He is also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 23, the Gaelic Arts Society of Pittsburgh, and the West Side Irish American Club of Cleveland and has dedicated 34 years to public service with the City of Pittsburgh;

WHEREAS, 2026 "Miss Smiling Irish Eyes" is Queen Molly McKenna, daughter of Greg and Erin McKenna of Mt. Lebanon. She is a junior at Saint Mary's College double majoring in biology and chemistry, a Presidential Scholarship recipient who plans to attend medical school. Her dedication to her heritage includes competing at the highest level of Irish Dancing at the All-Irelands in 2023;

WHEREAS, Court Maiden Kennedy Aryn Elizabeth Kuntz of Oakdale is a senior at Chartiers Valley High School, and a member of the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society. She is a WPIAL All-Section athlete, and plans to attend Westminster College to play soccer, major in biology, and pursue a career in genetic counseling;

WHEREAS, Court Maiden Sidney Ann Hoover of South Fayette, is currently a sophomore at West Virginia University majoring in Exercise Physiology, with plans to become a pediatric occupational therapist. She is a longtime Irish dancer with Shovlin Academy;

WHEREAS, this year's Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Man of the Year is Bill O'Neill. Bill is a member of the Monsignor Michael McGarey AOH Division 17, where he was Past President. He currently serves as Financial Secretary for the AOH Allegheny County Board and Political Education Chairman for the AOH Pennsylvania State Board.
