Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh salutes Dana Schumacher, a woman who has championed girls' soccer in the City of Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, August 1, 2006, "Dana Schumacher Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Dana Schumacher, a resident of Friendship,  has been an active contributor to the East End community by taking on many positions with the Division A Dynamo Girls soccer team, as parent, coach, rec league commissioner and most recently a Dynamo administrator; and
 
WHEREAS, Dana Schumacher has contributed significantly to her community's quality of life by enhancing athletic and social opportunities for City's youth; and
 
WHEREAS, Dana Schumacher has helped bring her Dynamo teams' four straight PA West Open soccer championships; and
 
WHEREAS, Dana Schumacher will soon be leaving the City of Pittsburgh for California and will not be able to continue community work with Dynamo; and
 
WHEREAS, as Dana Schumacher's family and friends honored her on Monday July 31, at the Vietnam Veteran's Pavilion in Schenley Park
