WHEREAS, Amen Corner, a historic Pittsburgh networking organization dating back to 1870, will be holding its annual Judicial Reception on April 14, 2026, where David A. Blaner will be honored with the prestigious Judge James R. McGregor Award; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Blaner has spent more than three decades strengthening the legal profession and the administration of justice through exemplary leadership as the Executive Director of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Foundation; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Blaner previously worked as a City Manager for three suburban municipalities in the Pittsburgh area, served as the President of the National Association of Bar Executives Board of Directors (NABE) from 2013 to 2014, and as a Chair of the ABA Metro Bar Caucus; and,
WHEREAS, while at NABE, Mr. Blaner was the President Elect, Chaired the NABE Administration & Finance Section, Chaired the NABE Chief Staff Executive Committee, Chaired the Sponsorship Committee, and Chaired the Program Committee; and,
WHEREAS, other roles taken on by Mr. Blaner included Chair and Treasurer of the Great Lakes Organization of Bar Executives, President of the Pennsylvania Bar Executives Association, and graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh year XI as Justice Day advisor for this session; and,
WHEREAS, a graduate of Bethany College with a BA in Political Science, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s in Public Administration, Mr. Blaner currently serves as a consultant to the ABA Division of Bar Services providing peer-to-peer reviews of Bar Association questions;*

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 14, 2026 to be “David A. Blaner Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
