Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Jonathan Andrews for his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout and his commitment to embodying the values and ideas of the Boy Scouts in everyday life. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proclaims that Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 be hereby declared as “Jonathan Andrews Eagle Scout Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Jonathan Andrews began his scouting career in the first grade, joining Pack 601 at the Church of the Resurrection in Brookline, eventually earning the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei Catholic religious awards and Cub Scout's highest honor, the Arrow of Light award; and
 
WHEREAS, Jonathan joined Troop 6 as a Boy Scout in the fifth grade, going on to hold the positions of Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader; and
 
WHEREAS, Jonathan participated in five out of state camping trips, including Haliburton in Canada, Camp Dittmer in New York, and Camp Bonner in North Carolina; and
 
WHEREAS, he also participated in two high adventure camping trips, one at Double H High Adventure Base in New Mexico where he was designated crew leader and hiked seven to nine miles per day and the other at Teton High Adventure Base in Wyoming where he backpacked twenty-five miles into the Bridger-Teton National Forest; and
 
WHEREAS, Jonathan's Eagle Scout project consisted of 100 hours refurbishing the Community Room at the Brookline Boulevard Presbyterian Church where Jonathan re-plaster, re-painted, upgraded light fixtures, and stripped and waxed the floor. And because of his efforts, the Community Room was leased to a small dance school benefitting the church financially; and
