WHEREAS, The International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Minister’s Widows (IAMWMW) was convened on April 8, 1941 at the Second Baptist Church in Richmond, VA by Dr. Elizabeth Coles Bouey; and,

WHEREAS, Membership throughout the United States now exceeds 43,000 and consists of 103 denominations, with chapters in 41 of the United States, the District of Columbia, and 18 nations on five continents; and,
WHEREAS, Currently headquartered in Richmond, Virginia; the current and 9th President of IAMWMW is Dr. Margaret Brown Payton from Virginia; and,
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Minsters’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows (PAMWMW) is the conference host for this meaningful and prestigious event, to be held at the grand Wyndham, Downtown Pittsburgh. The President and Convention Host is Mrs. Debra Cooper, who also is the Chair of the Conference; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Minister’s Widows for being a sisterhood that rising in faith, love and prayer; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the week of Friday, June 23, 2023, to be “International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
