WHEREAS, Barbara Hendrick is one of the organizers of St. Philip Parish’s Annual Calendar Party Luncheon held at Bishop Canevin High School.  This fundraiser began 22 years ago at the former parish of Holy Innocents and has raised tens of thousands of dollars since for the church; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to organizing the fundraiser, to which she also co-hosts a table, Barbara serves others as a Eucharistic Minister during Mass and serves on the St. Philip Pastoral Council; and,

 

WHEREAS, she treasures volunteerism and service to her church. She works the fish fry dinners, is involved in the picnic committee, and has volunteered at past bingos and summer festivals; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barbara is an alumnus of Langley High School and currently works as a school bus driver, where she cherishes her interactions with the kids. She is also heavily involved with the school activities of her many nieces and nephews, particularly through her arts and crafts talent; and, 

 

WHEREAS, for many years, Barbara cared for her aging parents so that they could avoid life in a nursing home; and, 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Barbara Hendrick for her service and commitment to her parish, community, and family; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Sunday, March 3, 2024 to be “Barbara Hendrick Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
