Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 1, 2026 to be "Younger Brothers Bar Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, for 20 years, Young Brothers Bar has been a staple of the Marshall Shadeland neighborhood and the broader Northside community, as a place that brings people together and celebrates the culture, history and spirit of the Northside; and,

WHEREAS, brothers Jamie and Keith Younger, together with their father Keith Younger Sr., became successful entrepreneurs by creating a space where people from across the Northside can network and build relationships, welcoming everyone from hardworking neighbors to elected officials, in the process becoming a household name in the community; and,

WHEREAS, over the years, Young Brothers Bar has hosted community engagement events, such as voter registrations and "Get Out the Vote" efforts, community health and wellness initiatives, neighborhood beautification projects, community cleanups, food giveaways, job development workshops, and community conversations focused on improving the quality of life of Northside residents; and,

WHEREAS, Jamie and Keith Younger have not only reinvested in their business, but also invested in the surrounding community, taking an active role in cleaning the Woods Run corridor and McClure Avenue, often caring for areas beyond the immediate vicinity of their establishment; and,

WHEREAS, Jamie and Keith Younger have also served as leaders within organizations such as the Northside Leadership Conference and the Marshall Shadeland Civic Association, all the while supporting emerging entrepreneurs and new businesses by sharing their knowledge, providing mentorship, and connecting them to resources that help them succeed; and,

WHEREAS, these accomplished Black entrepreneurs deserve recognition for their hard work, dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment to the community they serve, with a legacy that extends beyond their business and a community that has become better connected thank to their efforts in the last 2 decades;
