WHEREAS, in 1979, recreational boats manufacturer Irwin L. Jacobs bought a small, Kentucky-based fishing tournament promotion company, eventually turning FLW Outdoors, named for Ranger Boats founder Forrest L. Wood, into the largest organization of its kind; and

WHEREAS, FLW Outdoors has expanded well beyond bass fishing since its founding, incorporating a new tour for walleye fishing in 2001, for kingfish and redfish in 2005, and for striped bass in 2006, as well as popularizing fishing in the realm of fantasy sports; and

WHEREAS, the top bass tournament on the FLW Tour and the world championship of bass fishing, the Forrest Wood Cup, was held in Pittsburgh from July 30^th to August 2^nd of 2009 on the Three Rivers, attracting the world's best anglers with the sport's biggest award-$1 million; and

WHEREAS, in conjunction with the tournament, FLW Outdoors hosted a performance by Eric Church and a Family Fun Zone and outdoor show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, offering fans free entertainment through concerts, fishing-themed games and rides, and a chance to meet their favorite anglers; and
