Resolution providing for an Agreement(s) and Contract(s) with the Green Building Alliance for the purposes of incorporating green building practices into development review processes and provide for the payment at a cost thereof, not to exceed $35,000.00.

WHEREAS, the Department of City Planning has an executed Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with the Green Building Alliance, a unique Pittsburgh non-profit focused on providing educational and supportive services related to green building practices and the sole manager of the Pittsburgh 2030 District program which includes a large data set and variety of tools; and
WHEREAS, the MOU describes a role for the Green Building Alliance in development review processes in the Uptown area consistent with the adopted Uptown / West Oakland EcoInnovation District Plan and provisions in the Uptown Public Realm District in the City’s Zoning Code; and
WHEREAS, the recently adopted Riverfront Zoning (“RIV”) expanded the area subject to the Performance Points height bonus system and other green building provisions to approximately 35 miles of riverfront land much of which falls within the 2030 District; and
WHEREAS, the services of the Green Building Alliance are now needed for this much larger area with significantly more projects and projects of larger scale and impact.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of City Planning, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement/Agreements and Contract/Contracts in form approved by the City Solicitor, with the Green Building Alliance for the purposes of incorporating green building practices into development review processes at a cost not to exceed $35,000.00, chargeable and payable from the following accounts:
2019 Operating Budget, Department of City Planning, Professional & Technical Services:
