Title: WHEREAS, Eat'n Park opened its first restaurant June 5, 1949 on Route 51 causing such an enormous traffic jam on Saw Mill Run Boulevard that they had to close and regroup for 6 hours. The "Come as you are, eat in your car" concept was a huge success; and,

WHEREAS, Eat'n Park opened its first restaurant June 5, 1949 on Route 51 causing such an enormous traffic jam on Saw Mill Run Boulevard that they had to close and regroup for 6 hours. The "Come as you are, eat in your car" concept was a huge success; and,

WHEREAS, it wasn't until 1955 when Eat'n Park opened its first front dining room for those who would rather eat inside. In the early 70's they introduced their first children's menu, the Superburger and famous Soup & Salad bar. Throughout the years they continued to introduce new menu items and initiatives; and,

WHEREAS, since 2002, Eat'n Park has made significant steps towards more sustainable business practices such as their FarmSource Program that supports local agriculture and ensures fresh, seasonal produce for their guests; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to being passionate about food, they care about the community. Their Caring For Kids Campaign surpassed more than $12 million for children's hospitals since 1979 and today, after the introduction of the Smiley Cookie in 1986, almost half a million Smiley Cookies are donated every year to support community events and fundraisers. Most recently, during the pandemic, Eat'n Park served guests through their pickup windows and provided meals to the United Way of Southwestern PA; and,

WHEREAS, the Banksville location which opened in 1956, was recently rebuilt in 2014 adding a meeting room which has been used by local community organizations such as the Lions Club, SEAD, Athletic Associations, Banksville Civic Association, Westwood Women's Club, and Venom Ball Hockey, just to name a few; and,

WHEREAS, at the heart of Eat'n Park are more than 8,000 team members across 56 locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. After 75 years, the family-owned restaurant chain Eat'n Park is still "the place for smiles"; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Eat'n Park...
