WHEREAS, since December of 2008, His Excellency Batu Kutelia has served as the Georgian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, Canada and Mexico; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency has served his country honorably as the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Head of Foreign Intelligence Special Service; and
WHEREAS, as part of his visit to Pittsburgh, His Excellency participated in a roundtable discussion at the University of Pittsburgh on recruiting English speakers to teach in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the main goal of "Teach and Learn with Georgia" is to recruit 1,000 native English speakers to teach Georgian schoolchildren as part of a program that will benefit the nation and the teachers through informational and cultural exchange.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome and recognize His Excellency Batu Kutelia and looks forward to future collaborations between the City of Pittsburgh and the Republic of Georgia.
