WHEREAS, Teresa "Terri" Minor grew up in the Broadhead Manor neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh and graduated from Langley High School; and,
WHEREAS, in August of 1992 she left home and her life began to take dramatic turn for the worse until she returned home in July of 2007 and entered Renewal Center instead where she stayed 9 months learning how to rebuild her life and become a productive member of the community; and,
WHEREAS, while at Renewal, she went through a Career Development Course, received her learners permit and driver's license and got a job at the POISE Foundation where she has worked since January of 2008; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to working at the POISE Foundation, Terri works at the West End Works Employment Center/Technology Lab; and,
WHEREAS, Terri is an avid volunteer in the community having organized community clean ups with Pitt "Make A Difference Day", a Secret Santa event dispersing Christmas toys to children in need, and for the past 4 years, Terri has organized the Westside Reunion/Community Day where hundreds of current and past residents attend; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, Terri volunteers her time as a G.E.D. Tutor through the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Teresa Minor for overcoming obstacles and giving back to the community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 7, 2014, to be "Terri Minor Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
