WHEREAS, the American flag stands as a powerful symbol of our nation’s unity, freedom, and values, reminding us of the sacrifices made and the ideals we strive to uphold; and,
WHEREAS, June 14 is recognized annually as Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the United States flag in 1777, and celebrated as a tribute to the spirit of patriotism across the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the Allegheny Elks Lodge No. 339, proudly situated on Pittsburgh’s North Side, has observed Flag Day as a public tradition since 1909, reinforcing its mission to promote civic pride and national service; and,
WHEREAS, the Allegheny Elks have made lasting contributions to our city through scholarship programs, unwavering support for veterans, inclusive youth initiatives, and a wide range of charitable and civic efforts that uplift the entire community; and,
WHEREAS, the Lodge’s dedication to community service and national pride reflects the very ideals embodied by the American flag; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does commend the Allegheny Elks Lodge No. 339 for its unwavering commitment to civic engagement and service to others; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Saturday, June 14th, 2025, to be “Flag Day” here in the City of Pittsburgh.
