Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that each Member of the Council of the City of Pittsburgh shall forward to the Mayor within seven (7) days one candidate for the Ethics Hearing Board; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh directs the Mayor to fully appoint the Ethics Hearing Board within thirty (30) days.

WHEREAS, Section 197.09 of the City Code provides for an active City Ethics Hearing Board comprised of five (5) members; and
 
WHEREAS, the Ethics Hearing Board shall be composed of five (5) members; two (2) members shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council and three (3) members shall be appointed by the Mayor from a list of nine (9) candidates submitted by Council, and shall be confirmed by Council; and
 
WHEREAS, vacancies on the Ethics Hearing Board have not been filled, and the Board has not met in recent years; and
 
WHEREAS, it is essential that an Ethics Hearing Board be in place to hear the concerns of the taxpayers of the City of Pittsburgh and to investigate ethics complaints against locally elected officials.
