WHEREAS, the transgendered community, as well as their supporters, have been active in promoting the rights of all people, and have joined together to fight against gender based violence and discrimination; and

WHEREAS, on Sunday, November 20^th, 2005, the transgender and allied communities within Pittsburgh will gather to honor the Transgender Day of Remembrance at St. Andrews Lutheran Church on 304 Morewood Avenue in Shadyside; and

WHEREAS, through the vigil, the supporters will express their love and respect for those who have faced indifference and hatred, and the Day of Remembrance reminds non-transgender men and women that those who remain are their sons, daughters, parents, friends and partners; and
