Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize August 22nd, 2004 as "Pastor Delano R. Paige Day".

WHEREAS, Pastor Delano R. Paige and his congregation will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of his role as Pastor of the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church from August 20th through August 22nd, 2004; and

WHEREAS, for the past 20 years Pastor Paige has led his congregation with such skill and devotion, that the church has tripled in its membership and ministry. This increase coupled with continued growth is a testament to his ability to reveal and nurture a community's spirituality; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Paige's contributions to the spiritual development of the community is even more far reaching than can be seen in his church, as he has helped inspire twelve men to answer their calls to become pastors of churches, one to enter the Chaplaincy of the U. S. Navy, and one to enter the Chaplaincy of the Police Force; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Paige has worked towards the creation of numerous ministries that bring about great social benefits, including the Evangelical Ministry and the Audio-Visual Ministry, which aim to bring the word of the gospel to those who might not otherwise receive it, Families & Youth 2000 and Rodman's After-School program, which foster family and educational development, and Naomi's Place Transitional Housing, Inc., The Other Victim Ministry, and The Prison Ministry, which help those who have made mistakes atone for them; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Paige, after answering his pastoral call in 1973, has provided guidance for many groups in western Pennsylvania through various positions such as Pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Lawrence, Pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls, President of the Beaver County Mental Health and Retardation Board, and member on the Board of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind; and

WHEREAS, Delano Paige, as he achieved all these things, was also a devoted and happy husband to Laura Bell and a loving father to seven children.
