WHEREAS, Ms. Angelea Taylor of the neighborhood of Brookline is a jazz vocalist and a junior at the Pittsburgh School for the Creative and Performing Arts; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Taylor has performed in vocal ensembles in five opera productions with the Pittsburgh Opera and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, as a vocalist with the Artistic Youth Ambassadors of Pittsburgh as part of its Artistic Excellence International Exchange and Education (AEIEE) Program, which led to vocal soloist performances in Nassau, Bahamas and Rome, Italy, and has voluntarily used her talents to entertain and minister elderly in a local assisted living facility; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Taylor has been selected for one of the GRAMMY® Jazz Ensembles to perform during 2011 GRAMMY Week events in February; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Taylor, a soprano, will be part of a GRAMMY Jazz Choir, which will be joined by a GRAMMY Jazz Combo and GRAMMY Jazz Band at performances on February 13, 2011 at the GRAMMY Celebration® after-party, as well as other concerts in the area while she and her group are in Southern California February 4th through February 14th, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Taylor was selected as one of only 8 vocalists and 22 instrumentalists from 12 states to perform at 2011 GRAMMY Week events through the GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles program, which has been sponsored by The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation® since 1993; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Ms. Angelea Taylor's success and laud her for representing our fine neighborhood of Brookline and the City of Pittsburgh as a member of the 2011 GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles.
