WHEREAS, the 49th annual celebration of National Catholic Schools Week will be held Sunday, January 29 - February 4, 2023 with the theme Faith. Excellence. Service; and,

WHEREAS, the schools of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh instill passion in their teachers to motivate the children to achieve to the best of their ability by seeking academic excellence, strong faith, and service in the community; and,
WHEREAS, 99% of students who attend Catholic high school graduate and, of those, 86% go on to attend a 4-year college; all indications to conclude that Catholic Schools are producing extraordinary young people who are successful and committed to their future; and,
WHEREAS, when dedicated teachers base their methods on a love for the Church, they create an atmosphere of servants and leaders, which is what makes Catholic schools succeed; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Catholic Schools of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh that serve our City residents for teaching students to become faith-filled disciples, future leaders, and enriched citizens in our communities; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, January 29 to February 4, 2023 to be “Catholic Schools Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
