Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 14, 2004 to be SeniorInterests Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Senior Games feature a spirit of competition and kinship among Pennsylvania seniors in a safe, productive, mentally and physically stimulating atmosphere; and
 
WHEREAS, the 24th Annual Pennsylvania Senior Games were held June 28th through July 3rd at Shippensburg University; and
 
WHEREAS, of the  participants in the 2004 Pennsylvania Senior Games, which were the qualifiers for the National Senior Games to be held in Pittsburgh in 2005, the Citiparks SeniorInterests Program was represented by 61 senior delegates from various area centers; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh SeniorInterests contingent brought home a total of 243 medals, which set a new standard for the program; and
 
WHEREAS, the top overall medal winner from the SeniorInterests Program was Elsie Lowen, age 85 from the Beechview Senior Community Center, garnering a total of 14 medals; and
 
WHEREAS, a total of 47 athletes from the Citiparks SeniorInterests contingent qualified for the 2005 National Senior Games
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and congratulates all of the participants of the 2004 Pennsylvania Senior Games.
