WHEREAS, Brianna Marie Parker, a young resident of Fineview has demonstrated a commitment to helping others by using her craft-making and marketing skills to benefit those in need; and,
WHEREAS, as a member of Girl Scout Brownie Troop 52900, Brianna’s project for the Gift of Caring badge was making blankets, with boxes of cookies wrapped in them, and donating them to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Magee-Women’s Hospital; and
WHEREAS, with the help of KDKA’s Marty Griffin and Dennis Sabatini of the McGuire Memorial Foundation, she was able to deliver these blankets and cookies to all 77 patients of the NICU; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to her charitable endeavors, Brianna is an exceptional student at Carmalt Elementary with a 3.8 GPA and is a proud member of the Northside Steelers Cheerleading Squad and Beechview Softball Team; and,
WHEREAS, finally, Brianna is a wonderful daughter to her parents Heather and George and sister to Joshua, Anthony, George, and Alyssa; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Brianna Parker for her selfless dedication to help new mothers and their children; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim March 15th, 2016 as “Brianna Parker Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
