WHEREAS, the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi was chartered in 1925 by five recent college graduates, including the Honorable Livingstone M. Johnson; and,
WHEREAS, for the past 100 years, Iota Phi and its affiliated Iota Phi Foundation have remained steadfast in their mission to provide leadership opportunities, mentorship and scholarships that empower individuals to achieve their full potential, all the while fostering academic achievement, professional development and civic responsibility in the provision of meals and other basic needs to the broader community; and,
WHEREAS, throughout the years, the fraternity has provided enrichment programs that include their annual Christmas Food Toys and Books Giveaway program, which serves over 1000 families every year, the Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour, the Omega Dr. Carter G. Woodson Academy, and their Media Production Boot Camp; and,
WHEREAS, Iota Phi also engages with families via financial literacy programs and sports and cultural outings for youth such as Golfing with Ques, Cooking with Ques and Camping with Ques; and,
WHEREAS, Iota Phi’s Annual Achievement Dinner is the cornerstone of their community engagement and fundraising efforts, which supports local youth by providing collegiate scholarships and recognizes regional leaders; and,
WHEREAS, this year’s gala, taking place on October 18th, will celebrate the contributions and dedication of the members of Iota Phi Chapter for 100 years, where the National, Regional and Local leaders of the Fraternity will gather to celebrate their legacy and contributions to the Pittsburgh region;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 18, 2025 to be “Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
