WHEREAS, the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers (NACRO) strengthens academic and corporate relations by bringing together professionals from across the country to compare and refine ideas and strategies for increasing the value of relationships between industry and higher education; and,
WHEREAS, since their humble beginnings in 2007, NACRO has grown into a network of over 500 U.S. and international professionals who have formed to create mutually beneficial outcomes such as research funding, access to highly specialized facilities, in-kind gifts, jobs and internships for students, participants in executive education programs, licensing income, corporate foundation funding, event sponsorship, and more; and,
WHEREAS, corporations no longer consider themselves to be simply donors to academia; they consider themselves to be investors and business partners; and,
WHEREAS, NACRO provides Professional Development through education, training and leadership development opportunities; Thought Leadership by creating and disseminating new knowledge about corporate relations; Networking, by encouraging member communication and camaraderie; and Advocacy; and,
WHEREAS, with the help of Visit Pittsburgh, NACRO is holding its annual conference in Pittsburgh July 16-18 at The Westin Convention Center; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend NACRO for their work in developing stronger relations between corporate and institutions of higher learning; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, July 16-18, 2019 to be “NACRO DAYS” in the City of Pittsburgh.
