Title: WHEREAS, on May 9th, the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania is holding a panel discussion to celebrate its 25th anniversary; and WHEREAS, the panel will feature several distinguished judges, mediators, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) professionals who will discuss the future of mediation in Western Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, the event is also honoring Paul Wahrhaftig, who is considered by many to be the father of mediation in the City of Pittsburgh; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wahrhaftig has been a continuous member, board member and officer of the Council, and he has made numerous contributions at the local and national level to the field of mediation; and WHEREAS, the Mediation Council is the only organization in Western Pennsylvania that is devoted exclusively to promoting mediation and the development of mediation professionals; and WHEREAS, the Council aims to promote the use of mediation and other collaborative processes for resolving disputes and managing con...

WHEREAS, on May 9th, the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania is holding a panel discussion to celebrate its 25th anniversary; and
 
WHEREAS, the panel will feature several distinguished judges, mediators, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) professionals who will discuss the future of mediation in Western Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, the event is also honoring Paul Wahrhaftig, who is considered by many to be the father of mediation in the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Wahrhaftig has been a continuous member, board member and officer of the Council, and he has made numerous contributions at the local and national level to the field of mediation; and
 
WHEREAS, the Mediation Council is the only organization in Western Pennsylvania that is devoted exclusively to promoting mediation and the development of mediation professionals; and
 
WHEREAS, the Council aims to promote the use of mediation and other collaborative processes for resolving disputes and managing conflict; and
 
WHEREAS, the Mediation Council conducts regular educational programs for mediators, and provides a mentoring program for new mediators.
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and thanks the Mediation Council for its 25 years of service to the community; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares May 9, 2007, "Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania Day " in the City of Pittsburgh.
