WHEREAS, on Wednesday, April 27, the Amen Corner will be hosting the 56th Annual Judicial Reception at the Carlton Restaurant; and,
WHEREAS, this year the Amen Corner will be honoring Ken Gormley, Esq., President-Elect and Professor of Law, Duquesne University, as the recipient of the Judge James R. McGregor Award; and,
WHEREAS, President-Elect Gormley earned his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977 and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1980, going on to a superlative career in law and education, joining the faculty of Duquesne University in 1994 as an associate professor, winning a promotion to full professor in 1997; and,
WHEREAS, during his 22 years of service at Duquesne, Mr. Gormley has served on the Editorial Board of Duquesne University Press (2001-2005); as Associate Vice President for Interdisciplinary Scholarship and Special Projects for the University (2007-2008); as Chair of the President-Elect Search Committee for the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business (2012-2013); and as organizer of numerous high-profile programs featuring U.S. Supreme Court Justices, the Attorney General of the United States, the President of Costa Rica, and other events that garnered national attention; and,
WHEREAS, President-Elect Gormley is a renowned author and editor, contributing to numerous writings and legal texts such as "The Pennsylvania Constitution: A treatise on Rights and Liberties," "Archibald Cox: Conscience of a Nation", and "The Death of American Virtue: Clinton vs. Starr", a New York Times Bestseller that received the American Bar Association's prestigious Silver Gavel Award (Honorable Mention); and,
WHEREAS, President-Elect Gormley has testified in the U. S.
