WHEREAS, Christopher Murphy, son of Robert R. Murphy Jr. and Deborah Murphy, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on March 12, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Scouting of which only approximately 5 percent of youth earn and is based on performances in the areas of responsibility, community, leadership, service and outdoor skills; and
WHEREAS, for his final project to obtain Eagle Scout, Chris lead younger scouts and completed a project restoring the pantry at the Trinity AME Zion Church which consisted of 22 volunteers and 122 hours; and,
WHEREAS, Chris belongs to Troop 66 in Sheraden where he began as a Tiger at the age of 6 and he earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting at the age of 11. He became a Boy Scout where he has held the position of Quarter Master and Senior Patrol Leader; and,
WHEREAS, Christopher enjoys playing online video games with his friends and outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and hiking. He is involved in the garden club and math league at Pittsburgh Science and Technology School. After graduating high school in 2019, he plans to go to college and study forensics; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Christopher Murphy for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 19, 2018, to be “Christopher Murphy Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
