WHEREAS, founded in 1887, Winchester Thurston School has had a long history of excellence in academics, arts, athletics, and community service; and,
WHEREAS, Winchester Thurston School is a nationally renowned leader in education and is listed among the most highly regarded independent schools in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, on October 11, Dr. Scott D. Fech will be installed as the 19th Head of School for Winchester Thurston School; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Fech has a distinguished career of academic and administrative experience in a variety of school settings, including the acclaimed University of Chicago Laboratory Schools; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Fech’s leadership has improved and strengthened enrollment, academic programs, fundraising efforts, and governance structures of the schools at which he has served; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Fech has established opportunities for teachers, forged strong relationships between schools and the surrounding communities, and encouraged student growth.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome Dr. Scott D. Fech as the 19th Head of School for Winchester Thurston School and wishes him the best in his new role; and,
BE, IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, October 11 to be “Dr. Scott D. Fech Installation Ceremony Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
