WHEREAS, Stand Up Now is a revolutionary arts tour, presented by the Royal Tribe arts organization, traveling the Pittsburgh region and featuring a diverse collection of performance demonstrations and paintings by urban artists; and,
WHEREAS, Stand Up Now raised donations for local food banks, conducted voter registration, presented the S.U.N. Tour Film documentary which serves to educate the general population about social issues; and,
WHEREAS, Stand Up Now focuses on exposing the community to a mix of urban hiphop artists and culture, in an effort to encourage thought, education, growth, and creative solutions to local problems without resorting to violence; and,
WHEREAS, Stand Up Now brings together a unique group of artists for as much visibility and exposure as possible, further the exploration and development of their talents in the community and elsewhere.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh applauds the efforts and contributions of Stand Up Now and Royal Tribe arts organization.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares March 11, 2008, "Stand Up Now Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
