WHEREAS, In 1962, after student teaching at Crescent Elementary School, Dr. Patricia Gallagher began her teaching career at Lemington School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gallagher has worked for the Pittsburgh Public Schools for 35 years. She has been assistant principal at East Hills School, Martin Luther King School, Frick International Studies Academy, and Schiller Classical Academy since 1997. She also served as a reading supervisor in the Pittsburgh Public Schools Title I program; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Pittsburgh Public Schools, Dr. Gallagher spent 2 years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines where she taught at the Philippine Normal College. Dr. Gallagher also spent one summer caring for young children at an orphanage in Romania; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gallagher has dedicated her life to teaching children and has acknowledged her students accomplishments and successes by providing special reward trips to ensure the students are recognized for their hard work.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh acknowledges and commends the work and accomplishments of Dr. Patricia Gallagher; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, June 13, 2006 Dr. Patricia Gallagher Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
